Some managers tend to turn their subordinates into clones of themselves, forcing them to do things according to what they believe is the right way. But this is not a good approach as it may turn into micromanagement. Give your subordinates freedom and let them do their work at least partly in their own way.
New team leaders often want to be on good terms with their subordinates at all costs, which is why they are reluctant to give negative feedback. But you should speak openly with your subordinates. And if there are areas in which they could, objectively speaking, improve, you are the person who should tell them.
Enthuse the team for a shared vision, describe the future you will create together as a team, and give your subordinates a clear goal that they can all work towards.
Do not try to copy anyone's management style too much. Stay authentic and choose processes and communication style that fit your personality.
Measure everyone by the same yardstick. If you, even subconsciously, like some subordinates more than others, their colleagues will sense it and may become frustrated.
As a final tip, it should be noted that everyone makes mistakes. And new managers are no exception. Do not be a perfectionist, do not be too hard on yourself, and accept up front that even in your managerial endeavours you will make the occasional mistake.
