A team manager's work occasionally involves travelling: sometimes alone, sometimes with colleagues, sometimes with subordinates. What is the best way to organise such business trips? Here are a few tips for managers who are travelling on business.
As Entrepreneur.com states, every trip has a purpose, some kind of priority for which you are making the trip. Be clear beforehand about this purpose, and subject all your decisions regarding the trip to this main requirement.
In order to make your trip as smooth as possible, it is a good idea to find out and deal with all the administrative formalities in advance. Do you know how you will report on the trip? Do you need to keep receipts? For what are you reimbursed and what not? Clarify these questions in advance and your trip will be that much more relaxed.
If you are travelling with some colleagues or subordinates, avoid making all the decisions yourself. Find out what your subordinates' preferences are and discuss travel arrangements with them.
Avoid taking too many suitcases, bags and backpacks. Take only the essentials. The lighter you travel, the better.
Whether you are going to a neighbouring city or travelling across the world to a foreign country, a little gift will always please the people you are visiting. Even little things like biscuits or similar snacks which are produced wherever you are from can work wonders when travelling and meeting people during your trip.
