Do not suppose that when sitting behind a desk, a shirt and shorts are enough to put on. As for colors, do not dress in white and do not wear any patterns with stripes. Do not distract your partner by too striking jewelry or ties. Leave any clothes without sleeves in your wardrobe.
3. Camera adds years and pounds
If you do not want to look unnecessarily older and fatter, you must know how to properly set up a camera. Generally, the camera should not shoot you from below. Therefore, place the camera so that it is slightly above your eye level and not directly turned on you, but slightly to the right or left - depending on from which side you look better. During a call, do not look into the eyes of the person you can see on the screen but into the camera. Stick a color label close to the camera to remind you where to look.
4. Your immediate surroundings can be seen, too
The environment around you should be as little intrusive as possible. A clean, tidy desk and floor are fundamental but your attention should be paid to the walls as well. A bulletin board or a calendar with sensitive information should not be hung behind your back. Beware of overhead fluorescent lights and any stronger light behind you. If you need more light, use a desk lamp.
5. You should speak slowly on the camera
First, listen to what the other person tells you and then speak. Take care not to speak too quickly. You will then look less nervous and respond more intelligently and, secondly, your partner will understand you better. Train yourself in how not to use unnecessary verbal stumbles, too.
