Managers are perhaps even more prone to mental exhaustion than their subordinates. Why? Because apart from being responsible for themselves and their work, they also take responsibility for their subordinates. Some managers also struggle to delegate tasks, they work long hours or worry to excess about issues their team faces; thus they can easily find themselves on the brink of exhaustion. If you too sense the threat of this dark scenario, you should try adopting these five changes that can solve the problem and get you back on track.

This sounds trivial, yet it is something that causes many problems to workers and managers. If you have too much on your plate, you need to define which tasks have priority and which ones do not. Then forget about those with low priority or, even better, delegate them to someone else. Learn to say no and if you don't have time for something, just don't do it.
Always set aside specific times in your work schedule for tasks that are high priority. In the set period of time, focus only on that task: don't switch to something different or let anyone lure you elsewhere.
Eliminate all distractions that would prevent you working on key tasks. If necessary, turn off your cell phone, set your status on all communication channels to "offline", lock yourself in your office, or hide somewhere where nobody can disturb you.
Many managers would prefer to do everything themselves instead of delegating important tasks and decisions to subordinates. This happens both consciously and unconsciously. As a manager, however, you must learn to delegate effectively all the work you simply cannot manage to do yourself. Otherwise, you will burn out.
On a more general level, you need to maintain a healthy lifestyle both at work and in your personal life. But the work-life balance needs to be not just healthy but also sustainable. If you only work and only exercise three hours a day immediately after work, this may seem like a healthy regime, but it is so unsustainable that sooner or later you will fall victim to burnout. Set up a routine that allows you time for all your priorities so you are as content as possible with your life.
