CEZ commissioned a 600MW onshore wind farm in Romania

Czech developer CEZ Group has brought Europe’s largest onshore wind farm into full operation. The final wind turbine for the Fantanele/Cogealac project was connected to the regional grid in late November in the Dobrogea region of Romania.

The start-up of the project, which comprises 240 GE 2.5 MW turbines, placed Romania among large-scale wind producers. Prior to the Fantanele/Cogealac project, the total installed wind capacity in Romania was less than 20MW.

The turbine nacelles were supplied from GE’s facility in Salzbergen, Germany, while the rotor blades and towers came from Germany, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Poland and China.
