The new Energy Independence Policy Executive Order by US President Donald Trump has cancelled a set of energy policies and regulations introduced by the Obama administration.
The order, for example, repeals the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) 2015 Clean Power Plan. The aim of this plan was to cut US CO2 emissions by 32% from 2005 levels by 2030. Emissions standards for power plants were set in the plan, together with goals for individual states to cut CO2 emissions.
