New Britain-Norway power link begins commercial operation

A new power cable linking Norway and Great Britain began commercial operations on Friday October 1. Electricity demand is currently high in Britain; however, some nuclear power plants are disconnected from the grid and there is low local wind generation. Hydropower imported from Norway will help to ensure secure, affordable and sustainable electricity supplies for UK consumers.
