European Council agrees on electricity market reform

 Following months of negotiations, the European Council has agreed to include existing nuclear power plants in the EU’s electricity market reform. The reform aims to "make electricity prices less dependent on volatile fossil fuel prices, shield consumers from price spikes, accelerate the deployment of renewable energy sources and improve consumer protection."
