Britain should not be in front of world in tackling climate change

The British Chancellor George Osborne has suggested he could put a stop on Britain’s green taxes because the country should not continue to be ahead of Europe and the rest of the world in tackling climate change. George Osborne describes green lobby as environmental Taliban. The Chancellor warned Britain should not price itself out of the international markets through its commitment to green energy policies.

George Osborne said he remained committed to providing a steady and reliable supply of energy to Britain at the cheapest possible price, in line with international efforts to tackle climate change. Green taxes might be reduced if the current energy prices continue to rise.

Green taxes are said to account for about 10 per cent of an average household bill. Michael Fallon, the Energy Minister, is looking at how to reduce this cost.
