Installed capacity of onshore and offshore wind power plants constantly increases in Great Britain. According to the Britain’s Department of Energy and Climate Change, wind generated 9.5% of the UK’s electricity (5% from onshore wind and 4.5% from offshore wind) in the third quarter of 2015.
In the third quarter of 2015, 23.5% of the UK’s electricity was generated by renewables. With its share of 9.5%, wind is still the leading renewable technology in Britain, followed by bioenergy (9.1%), solar PV (3.5%) and hydro (1.4%). Coal’s and gas’s share of electricity generation slightly decreased in the third quarter of 2015.
