Researchers have developed a new catalyst for splitting water efficiently

Researchers at the University of California at Berkeley have developed a cheap catalyst which helps to split water as efficiently as expensive platinum. The results of the research were published in the journal Advanced Materials in October. An electric current can split water into oxygen and hydrogen. This type of reaction is very inefficient without a catalyst.
