The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has set a goal to reduce the cost of clean hydrogen by 80% to USD1 per kilogram within a decade. The DOE wants to support various innovative pathways to create affordable and clean hydrogen. In the framework of the DOE's H2@Scale multi-sector clean hydrogen initiative, a project to demonstrate the possibilities of hydrogen production from nuclear power at the Palo Verde nuclear power plant (NPP) in Arizona is to receive USD20 million in federal funding.
