The Baltic Shipyard has finished the second 'Project 22220' icebreaker and handed it over to the Rosatom subsidiary Atomflot. The twin-reactor icebreaker Sibir follows its sister vessel Arktika into service. Three more vessels identical to Sibir are currently under construction. Atomflot fleet now consists of six nuclear icebreakers. Sibir's primary mission will be to keep the Northern Sea Route passable for ships.
