Norway plans gas infrastructure nationalisation

At the end of April, the Norwegian government surprisingly announced its nationalization plan. The government mainly plans to take over gas pipelines owned by the Gassled company when many existing Gassled concessions expire in 2028. The government has, however, sent a letter to licensees of other assets saying that the nationalization plan will include "other central parts of the Norwegian gas infrastructure that are currently owned by Nyhamna and Polarled, as well as Vestprosess DA". The country’s large network of gas pipelines stretching approximately 9,000 km is considered a key asset of national interest. Its construction cost billions of dollars.
