Selection of suppliers of corporate training and consulting services must be based on a clear awareness of what business needs and why. Ideal contractor:
-
can clearly explain what he does,
-
is a consultant on a full-time,
-
has experience with education and counseling in companies of similar size and orientation,
-
can provide references and case studies,
-
brings added value,
-
views the work with clients as building relationships, not counting payable hours.
Before you choose a supplier, ask him to recommend you a specific trainer or consultant, to write a draft of the educational program for you and to propose terms and conditions of your cooperation. Demand case studies in relation to the work of a particular trainer or consultant. Require evidence of successfully completed training programs. Observe if he is able to communicate and collaborate with your other consultants.
Then ask: Will you be comfortable if the supplier manages your business? How much experinece does he have in the particular field? Can he meet deadlines and initiate new projects? Are his skills and experience not too general? Does he have respect of current and past clients? What is his professional reputation in the community?
