The International Coach Federation (ICF) published the results of a groundbreaking study on the global state of coaching called the ICF Global Coaching Study prepared by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). The study reveals the current trends in coaching and also identifies the challenges and opportunities that are still ahead for this field. More than 12,000 coaches from 117 countries participated in the study.

ICF Global Coaching Study is probably the most comprehensive global research in the field of professional coaching. The first and last such study was prepared by ICF in 2006. Then, 6,000 coaches from more than 70 countries participated.

According to the results of the current study, there are approximately 47,500 professional coaches in the world, 87% of which are active coaches. They earn an average of $ 47,900 a year. The total global revenues from coaching reached almost $ 2 billion ($ 1.979 billion) in 2011. Most coaches expect further growth of the number of their clients, organized coaching sessions and income in the following year.

Executive summary of the key results from the study is available for free on the ICF website here. For more information, go to the study site here.
