The average monthly salary of the Slovak men is € 988, women earn € 788 on average a month. The differences are most prevalent from the thirties and since the forties they begin to decline again. These are results from an online survey by Platy.sk, a Slovak portal comparing salaries on the Slovak labour market.

"The differences between the earnings of men and women are also affected by their choice of jobs. When we compared the difference in the earnings between men and women in general, women earned a fifth less. When we compared only the earnings of men and women in the same positions, the difference was 7%," says Miroslav Dravecký, Project Manager of Platy.sk.

The biggest difference in the earnings between men and women in the Slovak republic was recorded in the positions of financial advisors (- 31%), cooks (- 26%) and economic consultants (- 24%). Women also earn significantly less than men in positions of database administrators, operations managers and company relationship managers. Women earn more than men (but not more than 10%) in positions of marketing specialists, pharmaceutical technicians, teachers in elementary schools or receptionists.

A similar survey by Platy.cz in the Czech Republic showed that women earned 24% less than men. In the same positions, Czech women earn on average 10% less than the Czechs men.
