Which office tools are gone?

The LinkedIn professional social network asked its users in a survey which office tools would disappear from offices until 2017. The survey entitled Endangered Species Office was attended by more than 7,000 users from 18 countries. According to them, we are going to say goodbye to the following things within five years:

  1. Tape recorders (79%)

  2. Faxes (71%)

  3. Rolodexes (58%)

  4. Standard working hours (57%)

  5. Desktop telephones (35%)

  6. Desktop computers (34%)

  7. Formal business attire (27%)

  8. Corner offices for managers (21%)

  9. Cubicles (19%)

  10. USB flash drives (17%)

On the other hand, tablets (55%), data storage cloud data storages (54%), flexible working hours (52%) and smartphones (52%) will become common parts of offices according to the survey. The respondents would also welcome assistants to help them with their daily work (25%), places with natural sunlight (25%) and a quiet place where they could take a nap (22%) in their offices. 19% would like to have a remote control to get their colleagues easily silenced.
