Besides job interviews, exit interviews are increasingly taking place in companies when employees leave. However, between the time an employee comes and leaves, there is a room for other interviews the purpose of which is to examine the level of employee satisfaction and engagement and to prevent employee departure. These interviews are called stay interviews.
Stay interviews should be conducted face to face and focus not only on the lower employee ranks but also on managers. The goal is not to solve performance but to show employees they have a great value for their employers. The basic question is: "What can we do to make you stay?"
Other questions to be asked during a stay interview, were summed up on Recruiter.com:
-
Why do you stay with our company?
-
What do you like most and least about your work?
-
Can you give specific reasons that could get you to leave?
-
Can you fully utilize your talent at your current position?
-
What have you learnt since joining our company?
-
What else would you like to learn e.g. this year?
-
What would you like to change about your job? Team? Department?
-
Have you ever thought about leaving? What was the cause? Was this cause removed?
-
How do you imagine your dream job? How we can help you approach it?
-
Do we provide you adequate support of your career goals?
-
Are we able to recognize your work enough? What form of recognition would be meaningful to you?
-
What part of your work is the biggest and the smallest challenge for you?
-
Do you feel you are the perfect person for your job, or would you feel better in a different role?
