While Yahoo or Hewlett Packard are moving thousands of their employees from home offices back to  corporate locations, Dell has decided to go against this trend. The information was published on the Business Insider website together with the Dell 's corporate social responsibility plan entitled 2020 Legacy of Good. Under this plan, the company wants half of its 14,000 employees to work remotely until 2020. Currently, about 20% of Dell's employees work remotely.

Business Insider writes that the company's support for remote work may be influenced by its own interests since many Dell products are designed to help remote workers. On the other hand, the server refers to Dell as an example of a company showing other large companies that remote work is not a threat, but a solution that should be encouraged.

Dell's goals in the filed of people management to be reached until 2020 include four main points:

  1. Developing leaders who will enable employees to provide the best performance.

  2. Developing a culture in which employees will be encouraged to take risks, where they will feel valuable and proud of their employer.

  3. To become a place where employees can achieve their career aspirations and enjoy it.

  4. To give employees a voice that will have an impact on the direction of the company's leadership and further development.

The remote work program in Dell is called Connected Workplace and its goal is to allow employees choose how to work, increase their satisfaction, innovation and cooperation with customers. Moreover, the plan helps to save the company's money and protect the environment. Last year, the company saved $ 14 million thanks to remote work and kept 6,735 metric tons of CO2 from polluting the atmosphere.
