The human resources function has gained the strongest position in its history. Top management can now see it as a vital part of the company's operations, long-term growth and sustainability. What, exactly, should HR professionals do to be able to hire and develop employees who will achieve superior performance and create a strong corporate culture based on the support of leadership? That is the main topic of a new book entitled The Rise of HR: Wisdom from 73 Thought Leaders.
As the title of the book suggests, it is an anthology of essays composed by leading international experts in the field of HR. It was published by the HR Certification Institute, provider of internationally recognized HR certifications (PHR®, SPHR®, etc.). The Chief editor of the book is Dave Ulrich (University of Michigan, The RBL Group) with the business advisors Bill Schiemann and Libby Sartain.

“The intent of this collection is to help HR professionals seize the new, emerging opportunities occurring in talent development and to navigate the challenges of an ever-changing landscape,” said Dave Ulrich. He says that companies have become increasingly aware of how important it is to recruit and retain strong talent. The importance of HR professionals in their eyes has grown accordingly. For HR this means not only new opportunities, but also the responsibility for achieving excellent results which are now more important than ever before.
Individual chapters of The Rise of HR: Wisdom from 73 Thought Leaders are focused on strategy, organization of HR, talent acquisition and development, analytical tools in talent management, development of HR professionals and the future development of HR.
The book can be downloaded free in pdf format from The World Federation of People Management Associations (WFPMA) website here. More information on the book, including video interviews with some of the authors is available on www.riseofHR.com.
