While in 2008 one quarter of Czech employees had received the thirteenth salary, it was only 16% in 2011. The amount of thirteenth salaries annualy increased by 8 percent and reached 17.277 Czech crowns (CZK) on average. People working in positions such as postman, maid, special education teacher or midwife did not receive any thirteenth salary at all. These are results of a survey performed by a Czech website Platy.cz offering salary analyses for employers and employees on the Czech labour market.
The amount of thirteenth salaries is, in general, derived from basic salaries. The more senior position with a higher basic salary an employee holds, the higher 13th salary he or she receives. For example, the average thirteenth salary for administrative staff positions reached 12.669 CZK this year and it was paid to 12% of employees. For top managers, the average 13th salary reached 66.502 CZK and it was paid to one in four top managers.
