British employers agree with anonymous CVs

More than 100 leading British companies signed a government initiative called Business Compact which asks employers to select employees on the basis of anonymous CVs without names and details about places of education. The government is trying to reduce the risk of discrimination in recruitment and ensure equal chances for all this way,  personneltoday.com informed.

Companies such as Tesco, Barclays and Coca-Cola will select applicants for employment without taking into account the prestige of the schools they graduated from or their ethnic origin. They also made a commitment to advertise vacancies towards people from different social backgrounds instead of using informal contacts and offer financial assistance or minimum wage to interns who had previously worked for free in Britain.

The initiative is a part of the British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg's strategy of social mobility the aim of which is to build a culture of recruitment on the basis of "who knows what" instead of "who knows whom." After the success of the first hundred companies he is now going to address other 50 major British companies.
