The number of women in statutory bodies of the companies in the Czech Republic rose from 4.1% in 2000 to 6.7% in 2012. Although still below the European average, which is being increased especially by the states with mandatory quotas for women on boards (eg Norway), the country is not expected to introduce the quotas. These are findings of a survey by Deloitte Corporate Governance Czech Republic published on the Czech financial news portal FinančníNoviny.cz.
The number of female members of boards of directors in the largest Czech joint-stock companies rose from 4.5% in 2000 to 6.3% this year. The number of female executive directors of limited liability companies rose significatly, too. While in 2000 there was no woman in the 100 largest Ltd. companies in the Czech Republic, there are 8 women today. Women are also more involved in the control bodies. The number of women on supervisory boards rose from 8% in 2000 to 13.2% in 2012. The number of female authorized signatories rose from 13% to 22%.
Most women lead Czech hospitals and medical facilities (17.6%). Female directors can also be found in the field of pharmacy and industrial production (7.7%).
The average representation of women on boards of leading companies in Europe is around 14%.
