23% of employees in the Czech Republic received a benefit in the form of extra vacation last year. In the first half of this year, the situation has slightly improved. Nearly one in four working Czechs will have an extended vacation during the summer. Companies provide extra five days off above the law requirement on average. These are findings of a survey by Platy.cz, a Czech website offering salary analyses for employers and employees, that involved more than 87 thousand employees.
"By law, employees are entitled to 20 days of annual leave. Employers may give them a few extra days of holiday. According to a survey by Platy.cz people receive on average one extra week of vacation, which is sure to please every employee. But when we looked at the evolution of providing this benefit retroactively, we found that companies provide it less and less every year. In 2008, 39% percent of employees got extra vacation. Last year it was only 23%, which may not be positive news for the people, "says Lubomir Valenta, manager of Platy.cz for the Czech Republic.
