Basic mistakes in employee training

There is always room for improvement in employee training and development. However, first of all you should avoid the basic managerial mistakes that make any further improvement impossible. If your organization makes the mistakes described below, then you should know that training and other types of development bring the worst possible experience for your employees. What should you watch out for?

1. No connection between trainers and employees

Don't ignore the individual needs and learning styles of your employees. Your goal should not be to train a mass, but individuals. Where should you start? Ask your employees what they find most convenient in training and development. Lead your trainers to build personal relationships with the employees and communicate with them about their needs.

2. Inability to apply new knowledge in practice

After a training session ends, employees should remember not only that  training took place, but most of all, what the content of the training was. If they can't apply new things to their work immediately, they will naturally forget what they heard. Training content should be focused on specific situations employees deal with.

3. Too much information at one go

Training should not overwhelm employees. The purpose of employee development is not to cram as much information as possible into a short event because we can remember this type of information for only a short time. Employee training should take place gradually via shorter and more frequent sessions. One-time training events are not usually successful.
