The number of Czechs employed reached a new historic high. According to the current data from the Czech Statistical Office, the seasonally adjusted employment rate (the proportion of employed persons aged 15 to 64) was 70.9% in November 2015. That is the highest percent in the history of the Czech Republic (since January 1993). The employment rate surpassed the 70% threshold for the first time in March 2015 (70.0%). Since then, it has been increasing and has broken a "historical record" every month.

The CSO further stated that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the Czech Republic decreased to 4.7% in November. According to Eurostat, it evened out at 4.6%. "Eurostat published a methodically identical monthly unemployment rate in its press release, but for the age group from 15 to 74 years. The range from 65 to 74 years of age is characterized by a low number of unemployed people. Therefore, a slightly lower rate of unemployment was reported. It was 4.6% for persons aged 15 to 74 in November 2015," explained Dalibor Holý from the Czech Statistical Office.

According to Eurostat, the unemployment rate in the Czech Republic fell below the 5% threshold for the first time in June 2015 when it reached 4.9%. Right after Germany, where the unemployment rate was 4.7% in June 2015, it was the lowest unemployment rate in the whole of the European Union. The Czech Republic has held the second lowest unemployment rate in the EU so far.
