5 steps to encourage work morale not only in a small business

Not every company has sufficient resources to support the morale of its employees using expensive benefits. Creating a healthy working environment, however, need not be expensive and can happen even in a small company. Easysmallbusinesshr.com brought five inexpensive practical tips.

1. Support from management

Managers should not communicate with their people only in case of a mistake. Personal praise is a powerful motivational tool.

2. Common lunch

Try to establish common tradition of a monthly lunch in your company. Just order a pizza or something small to eat. You can also announce the employee of the month or similar rewards at these events.

3. Suggestion box

Place the box in your office so that all employees can leave their ideas and comments. Periodically examine the box and try to put at least one new idea a month into practice.

4. Praise from colleagues

Implement a system of personal praise among colleagues. Employees can e.g. write their aknowledgements on paper cards that will be distributed by superiors.

5. Create a "presidential team"

The most proactively thinking employees my be appointed members of a special "presidential team". The team can have new members each month and address specific tasks. Additionally, you can support it by issuing internal certificates.
