How to support your sales team

Do you want your sales team to operate as efficiently as possible? Then start by not overloading your sales representatives by paperwork. Every form they must fill should lead directly to close a sale. Check especially papers from other departments and protect the time of your people.

Second, reduce unnecessary meetings. Remember that the only reason for a meeting of your sales team is to increase sales. Each meeting should have its strategic plan and clear measures of success. Eg.: "The purpose of the meeting is to teach sales reps how to sell Product X. It will be considered a success if 80% of them achieve their quota within 30 days of the meeting."

Do not favour anybody unless you want to demoralize the team. Do not underestimate the power of morale and treat your people fairly. Keep your word and do not forget to give praise. Pay attention to too frequent changes in the sales process. Sales reps need time to get accustomed to the changes. When the changes are, however, frequent and unreasonable in their view, they will soon become frustrated and lower sales will follow.
