Are you a good boss?

The fact that employees do not like you does not necessarily mean that you are a bad boss. Unpopular decisions sometimes cannot be avoided. Ask the following questions and learn whether your behavior does not cost you the respect of your subordinates.

  • Do you wringle as soon as you hear about soft skills? Good boss does not possess just technical knowledge and the ability to solve business problems, he needs "human" skills, too.

  • Do you give your people enough freedom? Good boss is not breathing on his people's back. He shows the right direction and lets them do their work.

  • Can you be a mentor? Good boss is devoted to the personal development of his people. He helps them discover what they are the best in and how to use it.

  • Do you know how to be tough? Good boss is not mean and do not humiliate his people, but he can be decisive and anforce unpopular actions if necessary.

  • Do you avoid conflict? Good boss is not afraid of conflicts. He solve them directly and as soon as possible not to cause more problems.

  • Are your people afraid of you? Good boss is not preceded by a bad reputation. HE does not manage by fear but by example.

  • Do you let stress manage you? Good boss' motto is that there are no stressful situations, only stressful reactions to them. He control his stress, not vice versa.

  • Do you manage your team from physical and psychological distance? Good boss is available for his people. He does not permanently sit locked in a separate office.

  • Do you blame everyone and everything? Good boss does not blame others or circumstances. He can respond to errors by being mainly interested in how to correct them.

  • Are you interested in feedback? Good boss accepts feedback to constantly improve himself and leads others to do the same.
