Everybody can learn how to speak in public

There is only an absolute minimum of speakers with the art of performing in front of others given by God. Most people are more or less fighting with public speaking and have to undergo rigorous training and practice for their performances to look good. If you are among this majority, it could be a motivation for you that public speaking is among the most important skills to develop a successful career. And you can really learn it through training. Victor Lipman published some practical tips for naturally quieter individuals on Forbes.com.

Record yourself on a  video

Prepare yourself for the fact that it may not be a nice look on you, but do not let it discourage you. You will probably have a good knowledge of what you are speaking about but you may not be able to present it appropriately. The video will show you the direction you should take in the development of your presentation and rhetorical skills.

Find your own style

Base your style on your strengths which are natural for you. Someone can be good at telling stories, someone in motivating the audience, someone in a black humour. It is important to know what you are good at.

Choose one person in the audience

Imagine that you do not speak to a large number of people but run a dialogue with only one person. You can change these persons during the presentation.

Always prepare thoroughly

You always have to clearly know what you speak about. Thinking about it on stage is late. The point is not to learn your speech word by word but to prepare its structure and practice speaking and expressing your own thoughts. You only need to take the first step and start.
