Do you have the mental strength to achieve success?

Successful people have many different characteristics, but what they have in common is great mental strength. This means they can manage their emotions, thoughts and behaviour in a healthy way, which leads to satisfaction and success. Are you mentally strong enough? You can find out by reading the following list of things mentally strong people do not do. The list was originally published by psychologist Amy Morin on lifehack.org.

- Do not waste time feeling sorry for yourself. Accept responsibility for your actions, even though life is not always fair.

- Do not let others destroy your mental strength. Do not let yourself be controlled by other people. Remember that it is only up to you how you control your emotions and react to the behaviour of others.

- Do not be afraid of change. Accept that change is inevitable and learn to be flexible.

- Do not waste your energy on things you cannot control. In some situations you cannot control anything other than your own behaviour.

- Do not try to please everyone. This is simply not possible. Rather be kind and fair.

- Do not be afraid to take risks. Consider both the risks and benefits of your decisions.

- Do not remain in the past. You cannot change the past. Live in the present and plan for the future.

- Do not repeat the same mistakes. Mentally strong people know how to learn from their mistakes and move on.

- Do not be jealous of the success of others. On the contrary: imagine the hard work behind the success and celebrate together.

- Do not give up. Do not let early failure discourage you. Think of it as an opportunity to improve.

- Do not be afraid to be alone. Accept your own thoughts and be happy with yourself.

- Do not think the world owes you something. Nobody is obliged to take care of you or to give you something.

- Do not expect success right away. The results of any endeavour usually do not appear immediately. Changes require time and effort.
