One of the most successful "TED talks" is How great leaders inspire action from the 2009 TEDxPuget Sound U.S. conference in the state of Washington. The presenter was Simon Sinek, a leadership expert and author of the concept the "golden circle". The so-called golden circle, which was described in detail in a successful book called Start With Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action, is a simple idea explaining why great leaders achieve more than other people.
According to the Sinek's concept, the basis of the success of great leaders is the question "Why?" - Why I do what I do? Why do I believe in it? Why does my company exist? Why should people be interested in my activities? "The inspired leaders and the inspired organizations - regardless of their size, regardless of their industry - all think, act and communicate from the inside out . People don't buy what you do; they buy why you do it," says Sinek. Great leaders start with answering the question why and only after that do they deal with the how and what. In fact, this way of thinking and acting is based on the biology of the human brain, not on psychology as it might seem.
In his TED talk, Sinek used Martin Luther King, Steve Jobs and the aviation pioneers, the Wright Brother as examples to explain his "golden circle" of thinking.
