Summer has started and most of us strive to spent the beautiful days ahead doing something pleasant or - even better - something both pleasant and helpful. What about personal development? If you imagine sitting in a classroom on a boring training session, think again. Formal trainings are certainly not the only way to develop your skills.

If you are looking for a cheaper and less structured inspiration, we prepared a summary of self-development tips from Recruiter.com for you. First of all, however, sit down calmly and specify the skills you want to develop. Focusing on something specific is much more effective than trying to improve everything. Then you can try:

Volunteering

Try to find a way to develop your skills as a volunteer. Join a corporate program if available or find a local non-profit organization.

Connect with interesting people

Each industry has its champions and influential people. Today nothing prevents you from joining these people or following their activities on social networks. If you do not know how, read our previous article How to build contacts on a professional social network.

Old hobbies

Imagine what you liked or were attracted to in your childhood. Today you have more options to realize your childhood dreams and learn new skills while doing it.

Trial and error

Try to find your own way to acquire certain skills without formal training. Cooks, gardeners and handymen of all kinds do this every day. The trial and error approach, even works for learning soft skills.

Commitment

Do not develop your skills randomly. Make a commitment to take a small step every day. Once you create a process to follow, you will learn much better.

Reading

You do not only have to read boring textbooks. Read for pleasure about things that interest you. You may find inspiration for the development of new skills in fiction too. If you want to discuss your ideas with other readers of similar books, look for local library events or find online discussion groups.

Online education

Nowadays, the Internet is full of courses in various fields. As managers, you might appreciate recommendations for free online education on both Czech and foreign websites from our previous articles:
