None of your colleagues want to hear about your children getting sick or your fight with your family members. The topic does not need to be so explosive – almost anything personal, if discussed at sufficient length, will annoy everybody who has to be an involuntary listener.
2. Co-workers who never work
Your peers do notice when you spend a third of your working time outside taking smoke breaks. They see you when you are leave early, and they can only guess what you are doing and where you are going when they see your empty chair more often than they see you. They may get the idea that you are not putting in a full day’s work… in other words, you are lazy.
3. Messy desk
There are the dirty cups left to their own devices, piles of papers and tons of office supplies, some uneaten food, and similar relics of past. Who does it really harm, you ask. It may be more annoying than you might think. When your stuff attracts flies and you have managed to soil or lose some important documents, your reputation is going to be dealt a harsh blow.
4. Time for some music
Well, not everyone shares the same taste in music. Consequently, not everyone will be excited about you trying to be the office DJ. Occasionally, it can be good, however most of people prefer working in a calm, quiet environment.
