There are not many really successful people. Most of us experience more failures than successes. Why? This question was recently addressed on Psychcentral.com. This psychology-focused website concluded that ability to adapt and achieve success is the choice of each individual. We often fail for the simple reason of not being able to keep our commitments. Read the following examples of failures and consider whether some of them are getting in the way of your success.
1. Missing prerequisites
When we want to achieve something, we need to be sufficiently physically and mentally prepared. We need enough strength to overcome obstacles, our own doubts and fears.
2. Focus on outcomes
Today's fast-paced society focuses on results and ignores the path to get to there. This is wrong. Getting a result is an important motivational factor. Equally important, however, is to learn and gain self-confidence during the process of achieving those results.
3. Connecting with the wrong people
This cause of our failures include listening only to what we want to hear, or worse, lying and cheating. We are often influenced by others to the extent that in the end we help them, not ourselves, succeed.
4. Surrounding ourselves with unsuccessful people
People who experience suffering tend to suffer together. When others sympathize and express understanding about our failures, we feel better. On the other hand, we lose the chance to grow and succeed.
5. Lowering our standards
The fact that others do not want to raise their standards does not mean you should lower yours. If you want to achieve success, you should be prepared to go it alone.
6. Excuses
If you get used to blaming others or circumstances for your failures, you will automatically expect failures. And failures will come. You just tell yourself you could not have done anything about it.
7. Resignation
Failure is your own choice. We often simply give up our goals and accept failures.
