Family and business trips: How to combine them?

With all the modern technology available, meeting face to face is still highly important to top managers. The technology today is very advanced, but it still can’t make up for in-person interactions with both your team and your loved ones. That is why traveling may be a difficult issue for your family life, especially if you need to travel often and for long periods of time.

You need to decide which  are the important moments of your family life you must not miss and when it is easier to go abroad. When you are at home, make sure that your loved ones have a great time with you. Occasionally you could bring your family along. Invite them to join you so they can share new experiences and be with you, claims the smartblogs.com website.

1. Make the most of your time at home

Your time with your family is limited, so no matter how exhausting a business trip you must try to be there for them. Your health should be a priority when you are away, not when you are at home. Instead of trying to catch up on sleep, spend some quality time with your family.

2. You have to make sacrifices

You will surely have to miss some of your family events. Think in opportunity costs. Decide which of these events you can miss and which are way too important for you to skip them. For example birthdays – it is no problem to be on a business trip when you have your own, but you certainly want to be at home with your children when they have their birthdays.

3. Take advantage of modern technology everywhere

When your children are old enough to use email, stay connected and in touch with them. A quick note shows them that you are thinking of them and you are still engaged in their lives.

4. Have your bags always packed

Cut out some time and spend it with your family. Do not waste time packing, the packing process should be as fast as you can possibly make it.
