Intelligent managers may lack wisdom

There are many intelligent leaders, unfortunately, they often lack wisdom. There is no alignment and no congruence between what they think, what they feel and what they do. They are not able to seriously reflect on their experiences. They only care about tasks, not about the people who do the tasks, claim an article on the management-issues.com website.

Why are intelligent managers who lack wisdom bad?

1) They are focused on short-term gains

They are not able or willing to take a step back and take a look at the things from a long term perspective. They are often blind to things and developments outside of their own industry or profession.

2) They limit others

When they are engaged in an analysis, they fear taking risks and they don’t want to admit that there may be a countless number of other possibilities and factors. They stick with what they know, or what they think they know. They don’t enjoy challenges, they avoid them.

3) They are perfectly logical

They won’t allow their intuition affect their decision-making process. They are linear thinkers. Therefore everything has to be rational.

4) They refuse to consider the needs of others

When faced with a conflict between multiple parties or priorities, they simply don’t think about wellbeing of the community. They approach every situation focused merely their own personal goals.

5) They have no deep sense of self-awareness

They lack emotional intelligence. They deny their own weaknesses and never allow their emotions to surface. They also lack people skills. They don’t care about the other persons' perspective; they are interested only in a functional perspective. They don’t know how to deal with other people's emotions. They are not able to build relationships.
