The following advice will help you accelerate your ability to learn.

Look back

Take some time to reflect on your past experiences. These might include some important meeting with a client or just a casual conversation with a colleague. Reflection is a way to make some sense of our experiences. It enables us to extract wisdom from them, which we can then apply later to new situations.

Say, for example, you have just finished a project. You shouldn’t immediately jump into the next one. Instead, just spend a few minutes reflecting on what surprised you during the previous one. Think also about when you felt frustration and what worked well. After that, draw some conclusions for yourself and perhaps share some insights with the team.

Look around

Pay attention to your colleagues and clients. Try to recognise the contributions others are making. Nurture your ability to leverage everyday interactions with others. Explore how people are working and borrow the best aspects yourself. These suggestions are from an article on the strategy-business.com website.

Let’s assume you have never really thought you could be inspired by colleagues from other teams. You have always seen their work as something completely unrelated to your own. Now you should cultivate relationships so as to be aware of what others are doing. You will thus gain a broader perspective of all the issues your company is facing. You will also learn about new successful practices that you can use as well.
