Why shouldn't you make 2016 your best year ever? Here are a few tips on valuable resolutions for managers.
- Do something you like and what you are good at every day. You should have fun whatever you do.
- Do something just for yourself every day. Managers usually do things for others. You should, however, not forget about yourself. Take a moment to relax or concentrate on any activity you enjoy. You should feel like you're alive, not only working.
- Praise yourself when you deserve it. People work more productively when they receive recognition. As a manager, you may not have much interaction with your superiors, so don't forget to praise yourself.
- Try to learn something new every day. Stagnating in a routine is easy. Talk with your colleagues, inquire about the trends your competition follows, browse the Internet.
- Build professional contacts. Every month you should attend at least one professional meeting. Actively participate, and try to make the best of the relationships you have with others.
- Show your courage and step out of the comfort zone. Don't try to avoid inconveniences. Do the exact opposite and face them.
- Listen more and talk less. Commit to listening to everything your co-workers say and solve the problems you learn about in this way.
- Plan your task and goals. Use a diary or mobile phone to see your priorities clearly, both short and long term goals.
- Read and learn. Try to read as many professional books, journals and websites as possible in order to constantly develop yourself.
- Find a new hobby. If you've always wanted to try something, try it now. Open a new dimension of your life.
- Take yourself at least a little less seriously. Take time to laugh and find your peace of mind. Have fun with stories about your employees who did something crazy. Respect the small differences among people.
