I will offer latitude
You are the boss and you know what needs to be done. No wonder it is perfectly natural for you to give your subordinates binding instructions. But by doing so, you stifle their creativity and show no respect for their skills. Let them make some decisions and they will feel that you trust their abilities. Latitude is a gift for everyone.
I will answer unspoken questions
Your teammates sometime ask questions that are different from those that actually interest them. The reasons may be diverse: they may be shy or hesitant. Often there is an unspoken question behind the one they ask. Try to figure out what it is and answer it as well.
I will get under the surface
When someone makes a mistake, it is easy for you to assume that they did not listen to you or were not careful enough. However, there can be less apparent reasons – there can be reasons hidden beneath the surface. This commitment is about providing empathy. In fact, it could even be you who caused the mistake.
These rather simple commitments can make a big change in your life. If you remember them and begin to act accordingly, it is likely that you will find yourself both more popular and more relaxed.
