Defeating procrastination with better time management

Get the toughest task behind you as soon as you can every day. Everything else will seem easier in comparison for the rest of the day. Which task management tips are the famous coach Brian Tracy's favorites? Get things done in both your personal and professional life.

1) Think on paper

Prepare thoroughly: List every step of the job in advance. Break your task down into its constituent parts before you begin. Writing down every detail helps you to stop procrastinating.

2) Come fully prepared

When you sit down to work, make sure that you have everything on hand so that you don’t have to move until the task is finished. By beginning fully prepared, your motivation will not be threatened.

3) Do one small thing to get started

Once you have taken even one small step to start the job, you will often find yourself carrying on with the task until it is completed. You can also divide it into small slices and complete just one piece every time.

4) Are you busy? You still can complete big things

Select a five-minute part of the job and only do that. Don’t worry about the whole task. Break the task down into small pieces that take an identifiable amount of time to complete. Then do just one small piece at a time whenever you have the time. Use the snatches of time between your other activities.

5) Do the task that causes you the most fear or anxiety

Often you need to overcome the fear of failure or rejection. You may need to discipline or fire a subordinate. Simply deal with the task that is causing you the greatest emotional distress first.
