The modern age is associated with many risks and civilization diseases which, in combination with the ever-increasing demands in terms of work performance, can affect everybody, especially managers. What are the six modern bad habits and maladies that you should avoid as a manager to keep you from burning out and collapsing and allow you to give as satisfactory a work performance as possible?

1. No breaks

Working without breaks is counter-productive in the end. According to INC.com, you should take a few minutes' break at least every hour. Your work will then be more effective, concentrated and creative.

2. Sleep deprivation

Too little sleep is one of the diseases of civilization, and sooner or later it will manifest itself in your personal and work life. Don't underestimate lack of sleep and learn to see sleep as your priority.

3. Not listening to employees

Every manager can learn a lot from their subordinates. Their incentives can present a unique point of view on a given issue. However, not every manager listens to their employees, which is wrong.

4. Active procrastination

Many people are busy at work doing activities that are really not productive at all. Time is a valuable commodity that must be used carefully. Don't hide behind non-productive work under the impression you're working.

5. Not delegating work

Many managers prefer doing work themselves instead of delegating it to their employees. If this habit is so strong that it starts limiting you, you should consider whether you're surrounded by the right people, given you don't trust them that much.

6. Tolerating obsolete technology

Little investment into new technologies and software can eventually have a strong negative impact on the results of the whole business team. Don't lag behind current developments, and don't give your competition the advantage of your obsolete technology.
