Entrepreneurial trends 2017: Inspiration from the UK

In 2017, businesses in the fields of Danish interiors or dancing lessons could be very successful. Yell Business, a digital marketing company, combined predictions from early 2016 with research at the end of the year in order to identify services that will probably be in high demand.

The marketing director of Yell Business claims that emerging trends provide an excellent opportunity for anyone who is considering setting up a business. It is all a question of analysing people’s everyday passions. So what will be your business? Offering jive dancing lessons or a starting a vegan cafe?

The data from the UK's leading online business directory showed some interesting trends, which will certainly be valid for Britain. And it may also be interesting for others to know what will be the next big thing in the UK: perhaps these trends will gradually reach the Czech Republic too.

Popularity champions: Danish interior design and jive

There is a current trend for all things that are hygge (which is a Danish word for cosiness): this term is currently being googled very often. Similarly, jive classes saw 50% more searches on Google than in 2015. Given the trend, this dance could be a very trendy pastime in the ongoing year.

According to an overview on the businessrevieweurope.eu website, craft gin and craft beer are also being googled by many and will be another hot area in 2017. Something else which is also being searched for more and more is vegan food.

Another sphere gaining in popularity is online streaming services and eSports companies (these are focused on professional playing of video games).

Yell also asked what prevents consumers from starting their own business. The three main reasons are:

  • Lack of money
  • Not knowing how or where to start
  • Risk of failure is too great
