Experts asked by the Buisness Insider website expect the following significant changes in 2050.
6. More frequent career changes
Since employees will require more and more from employers, they will also be more willing to leave if another employer has more to offer. When their personal priorities and interests change, they won't hesitate to change careers either. The pressure on corporate social responsibility will grow further and force employers to prove they really deserve their workers and customers.
7. Monitoring employees outside of work
Technology will allow employers to monitor not only the location and performance of their employees, but also their health. The tests which are now used to detect drugs will, for example, be extended to other areas of workers' health. Of course, we can expect resistance from workers. It'll be up to companies to support their employees, not just control them.
8. No more traditional headquarters and offices
There has already been a growing interest in coworking spaces not only among freelancers and entrepreneurs, but also among big corporations. Companies will become much more focused on hiring the best workers regardless of whether they can get to a particular office, but for their knowledge and skills.
9. Availability of autonomous vehicles
Thanks to self-driving cars able to communicate with other cars, commuting to work will be easier, faster and safer. Even in 2050, however, we can't rely on artificial intelligence to do everything for us - both on the road and at work.
The future lies in people learning to keep up with machines, not the end of work.
Do you agree with these estimates? What do you think work will be like in 2050?
