Reasons to love home office (2/2)

Some people like to work from home and can't imagine anything better than a day spent in their pyjamas with a laptop. Others, on the other hand, miss a solid structure and meetings with colleagues in the office. They consider home office more of a punishment (although sometimes there is no choice). This continuation of the previous article, offers you four more reasons why you will get to like working from home.

Green workspace

One simple thing that will make your workspace more pleasant is adding greenery. Plants that might struggle with dimmed office light can thrive in your home and you will appreciate them even when not working. Studies show that plants generally help reduce stress and restore the ability to concentrate. In addition, they help clean the air in the home and get rid of pollutants. The green colour also has a calming effect.

Music for a good mood

It can be difficult to switch from home mode to work mode. One thing that helps is to have some kind of ritual that marks the transition to a work session. For example, try creating several playlists to help you with various workflow activities, such as writing e-mails or creative activities. Playlists could always start with the same song, which will signal the beginning of the work process and, conversely, other songs might encourage non-work activities.

Quality food

When you work at the office, your meals often consist in simply buying a ready-made snack on the way to work. At home, however, you have access to your own kitchen and do not have to rely on precooked food.

Be playful

Offices were designed with work in mind and the prevailing view is that work is the complete opposite of play. But taking your work home will allow you to introduce more playfulness into the process. Start, say, with your workspace: here you can have various inspirational pictures on the wall or swap a chair for an exercise ball. When you work from home, there's no reason not to unleash your imagination and foster a creative work environment that will support your overall productivity.
