Appreciation of success
Certain forms of of success are pre-defined, included in individual job descriptions and automatically expected. Nonetheless, according to Project Times, managers should still explicitly acknowledge particular successes of individual employees. A kind word can have more impact than one might expect.
Considering family life
Surveys clearly demonstrate that people who are able to balance their personal, family life with work life are more hard-working and more efficient in their job. Flexible working hours or the possibility of staying at home with a sick child without taking a day off are things that will pay off financially in the long run.
Sufficient authority
There is nothing more demotivating than feeling like a replaceable cog in a large machine without any autonomy. For your employees to be happy, positive and motivated, it is important they have a degree of authority and autonomy to make work-related decisions themselves.
Positive motivation
Positive motivation always works better than the negative kind. Do not try to make your employees work by means of fear but rather through positive emotions.
Clearly defined functions
What makes a working environment flourish is individual people having their functions clearly defined. They must know what their obligations and rights are and what they can expect from others. Unclear roles of team members only add to an atmosphere of suspense and uncertainty.
