Some myths about public speaking

For a presentation to be successful (either at a conference or in front of company management), it must engage or surprise the audience. The presenter must always be one step ahead of the listeners' expectations. And maybe it is the effort to be innovative at all costs that has created the many myths surrounding presentations. Which of these are best ignored?
