Starting to dread work
Your job should ideally be enjoyable. Occasional stress or reluctance to complete a task are normal, but if you are starting to feel downright anxious about having to go back to work again tomorrow, it is time to consider whether you have a healthy relationship with your job.
Neglecting friends, hobbies and family
In the long term, over-emphasis on work can also mean you stop enjoying things you used to enjoy. You neglect your hobbies and no longer pursue the things you find fun because of work commitments or fatigue. Nor do you meet your friends or spend enough time with your family, or that time is of poor quality because your thoughts are always elsewhere.
Feeling the mental and physical effects of too much work
Of course, being overly involved in your work will sooner or later affect your health both mentally and physically. At the beginning, you might feel only chronic stress, but then sleep problems, digestive problems and back pain can follow. There may also be either losing or putting on too much weight, excessive alcohol consumption, depression and numerous somatic problems. Therefore, it is inadvisable to underestimate workaholism and an unhealthy relationship to work.
