Facebook announced that it would provide £ 4.2 million worth of free advertising for start-ups and small European enterprises. At the DLD conference in Munich, the firm announced that up to 50 thousand companies will be able to apply for a credit of 80 pounds, which will be used on their Facebook page. The company wants to help start-ups. In the first phase of this option is offered in Great Britain, France, Spain, Germany and Italy.
The impact of Facebook
At around the same time the Deloitte report was released. It illustrates the influence of Facebook on the UK and Europe. According to the report, this social network led to creation of 35,200 jobs only in the UK in 2011, and it contributed to the economy incredible 2.2 billion pounds. It is thus much more than just sharing photos and experiences, as critics say about this social media.
Facebook has teamed up with The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) and plans for this year a series of seminars on how to create a company profile and how to attract customers. In addition, the company has introduced in recent months several new tools for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), such as Facebook Places, Sponsored Stories, etc.
Some critics argue that the ads on Facebook are still very expensive compared to tools like Google AdWords. In addition, there is a relatively low rate of clicks. On the other hand, its supporters argue that Facebook allowed them good geo-location, allowing higher ROI than other comparable instruments could provide.
